Privacy Policy

PreTestTakers ("we", "us", "our") is an online test preparation platform for UPSC and State PSC exams, including GPSC. We run the website at www.pretesttakers.in and the PreTestTakers Android app. This policy covers both.

We process personal data in line with India's Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

Information you give us

• Account details: your name, email address, Indian mobile number and password (stored only in encrypted, hashed form). Institutes also give their institute name and chosen plan.
• Profile photo: if you choose to upload one in the app.
• Exam preferences: the exam categories you tell us you are preparing for.
• Messages: anything you send through the contact form or a support ticket, and any reviews you write for an exam.

Information created as you use PreTestTakers

• Test activity: the papers you attempt, your answers, scores, time taken, ranks, bookmarked questions and paused attempts.
• Purchases: the exams you buy, amounts and order status. We do not see or store your full card, UPI or bank details.
• Device information: in the app, a notification token so we can send you push notifications, plus the app version you use.
• Technical logs: such as IP address, browser type and the pages you visit, kept by our servers to keep the service secure and working.

• To create and secure your account, verify your email and let you sign in.
• To run tests, calculate scores, and show your results, analytics, solutions and ranks.
• To give you access to the exams you have bought and process your payments.
• To recommend exams that match the categories you selected.
• To send you notifications about new tests, results and your account. You can turn push alerts off in the app at any time.
• To answer your questions and support requests.
• To prevent fraud and misuse, and to meet our legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising by third parties.

Our leaderboards and ranks show your name and score to other students who took the same paper. Reviews you write are shown with your name. Your email address and mobile number are never shown to other users.

We share personal data only with service providers who help us run PreTestTakers, and only as much as they need:

• Razorpay, to process payments.
• Google Firebase, to deliver push notifications to the app.
• Google Play, which distributes the Android app under its own terms.
• Our hosting and email providers, to store data and send account emails.

We may also disclose information when required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of our users and the platform.

Payments are handled by Razorpay on its secure pages. Your card, UPI and banking details go directly to Razorpay and are governed by Razorpay's privacy policy. We only receive confirmation of the payment and the order details.

The website uses essential cookies to keep you signed in and to protect forms from misuse, and stores small preferences such as your light or dark theme in your browser. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

We keep your account information and test history for as long as your account is active, so you can see your progress over time. When you delete your account, we delete your profile, photo and sign-in sessions. We may keep payment and order records for as long as tax and accounting laws require.

• Access and correction: you can see and update your name and profile photo in the app, and ask us for a copy of your data.
• Deletion: students can delete their account from the app's profile settings, or by emailing us.
• Notifications: you can switch push alerts off in the app or in your phone's settings.
• Withdrawing consent: you can withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account. This does not affect processing already done.

To use any of these rights, write to info@pretesttakers.in from the email address on your account.

We protect your data with encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and access controls on our systems. No online service can be completely secure, so please keep your password private and tell us straight away if you think your account has been misused.

PreTestTakers is meant for exam aspirants aged 18 and above. If you are under 18, you may use it only with the consent and supervision of a parent or guardian. If we learn that we hold a child's data without that consent, we will delete it.

We may update this policy as our service changes. We will change the "Last updated" date above and, for important changes, let you know by email or in the app. Continuing to use PreTestTakers after a change means you accept the updated policy.

For any question or complaint about your personal data, contact our Grievance Officer at info@pretesttakers.in. We will acknowledge your message within 48 hours and aim to resolve it within 30 days.
